1200 is the minimum. It is dangerous to eat fewer than 1200 calories a day. Low carb diets are dangerous too, as we learned in the 1960s. It is also not good to lose more than 2 pounds a week.
1200-1400 a day with 30 minutes of aerobic exercise a day should do the trick. If you are under 21, dieting without the help of a doctor or nutritionist is dangerous also, because your brain is still growing.
A whole head of lettuce has about 50 calories, so eat as much lettuce and celery as you want with your meals. A homemade vegetable beef soup with the fat skimmed off makes a good low cal meal with a sandwich (w/lettuce and tomato).
My wife tried Slim Fast and was very hungry. When I saw that 1 shake was about 220 calories, I figured out how to make her a 220 calorie meal of soup and sandwich that was much more satisfying.
It is a matter of using your head and doing the calculations.
That all depends what your current weight is…, on average…, a male 160 to 180 pounds usually burns about 2000 calories a day…, if you add a cardio workout…, could be 2500…, if you’ve been weight lifting for a while…, more lean muscle mass…, could be 2800 calories a day… A pound of fat is about 3500 calories…
So…, is 1200 too low to start??? What I would do is rotate from let’s say…, 1200 calories one day.., to 1800 the next…, then even drop to 800 then back up to 2000 calories per day… This way…, your body won’t think you’re starving… If you go with 1200 everyday…, sooner or later your metabolic rate will slow down greatly…, then it will be harder and harder to drop the weight..
It is really impossible to answer this question correctly unless I had your height and weight. I mean 1200 calories sounds good but it really differs depending on your activity, height and weight.
for me,you can start with a low carb diet, that’s mean you’ll onlt need 1500 calories per day.
